McGarrah Elementary School began operation in August of 1967 as Lake Harbin Elementary School. Through the years the school has been renovated three times and has had many changes in its classrooms and staff. Through these changes it has remained a vital part of the community and an excellent place for students to reach their potential. The school's name was changed to honor its first principal William M. McGarrah in 1998.
