Vision and Mission

McKinley Elementary School will provide all students with a Committed Educational Team Safe Environment Challenging Curriculum.

We believe that we are a committed educational team. The effort of the student, school staff and the parent provides the child with the means to succeed in meeting the challenges of a changing world. We believe all children are capable of learning and it is our job to provide a rich, positive, and safe learning environment that fosters their desire to learn.

We will provide our students with a safe, nuturing environment that encourages physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth. When studenst leave our school they will take with them social/academic skills, knowledge, tolerance of other cultures and individual differences and values necessary to be successful in the 21st century. we look forward to having them reflect back on their experiences at McKinley as the foundation of their success.

We see our students receiving a rigorous challenging curriculum that is delivered by differentiated instruction, fostering respect for individual cognitive, social, ethical, religious, economical, and lingual differences. We will use a variety of research-based, flexible academic strategies and programs to move our students forward to achieve higher levels of academic achievement. We envision a staff that is well versed in the role and power of utilizing on-going assessment strategies to adjust and rework educational delivery for students.

We will continue to foster a positive partnership between parents and teachers by motivating parents to be active participants on our educational team. We expect our parents to attend school sponsored parent information nights, attend parent teacher conferences, be actively involved with homework, be aware of grade level expectations and standards, and communicate regularly with the child's teacher. We will encourage parents to be involved in the PTA, School Site Council and various volunteer positions within the school. Parents who provide their expertise inside and outside the school enrich their children with multiple experiences, which contribute to students' gain of confidence. When parents are involved members of the educational team students will develop into well prepared individuals who are ready to meet the demands of an ever changing technological and global world.

We will encourage and support each other to achieve social, physical and emotional goals for our McKinley community. We will produce life-long, contributing learners to our society.
