Messiah Lutheran Church is a church on a journey as well.  Over a century ago, Finnish settlers gathered for worship in their journey of coming to the new country.  In 1998, a lightning strike destroyed its building and sent the congregation on a journey to a new church building on the highway.   For fifteen years, we were a training congregation for seminary interns along with First Lutheran in Buhl.   Since 2004, it has been on a journey to recognize God’s welcome to all people, becoming a Reconciling in Christ congregation.  Since 2009, it has been a host of the Iron Range Earth Fest, a celebration of local traditions and practical resources for sustainable living.  We continue to support and host the Summer Work Outreach Project (SWOP), now in its 19th year of offering this six week program of community service, money management, and life skills development for 11 to 14 year old youth.
