About:

Mission:

The mission of the Middlebury Public Library is to provide information, resources, and services that educate, enlighten, entertain and inspire our community to learn at every age.

The Middlebury Public Library is staffed by four full-time and four part-time employees and numerous volunteers.  Present holdings include more than 67,000 books, periodicals, films, DVDs, CDs, video games, three Kindles, activity bags, puzzles, etc.

The library has a standalone circulation system that will continue to provide an extensive interlibrary loan system available to our library users. This interlibrary loan system, called Request, will allow you to borrow any book in the State of Connecticut. It is operated by the State Library.

Middlebury Library not only has special collections including colleges/careers, parenting, large print books; it has additional new space to meet the community’s needs. The Middlebury Public Library completed a major renovation/expansion in November 2013 due to a state grant, public donations, and town funding under the current Library Director Jo-Ann LoRusso. The new construction project consisted of adding a quiet reading area with a fireplace, a teen room, five study rooms, a Café, an additional meeting room, an expanded conference room with kitchenette, and a cataloged Connecticut History and Genealogy Room.

The Library offers family passes to area museums that are available for checkout and hosts programs, lectures, and seminars which are available to the public free of charge. Book discussions for every age, summer reading programs, and extensive online databases thru iCONN are just a few of the many offerings the Middlebury Public Library provides throughout the year.
