Vision Statement

Montclair Elementary will stimulate a desire for life-long learning. Students will expand their knowledge base and increase their use of strategies to allow them to become productive communicators, resourceful problem solvers, and responsible decision makers in their culturally diverse and technological environment.

Mission Statement

Consistent with the emerging "Information Age,"

Montclair Elementary will provide a brain compatible learning environment that includes:

A physical and psychological secure climate

Meaningful curriculum related to real life experiences (multicultural diversity, and technological advancement)

Active learning (student centered, "hands-on" experiences which promote choice)

High expectations for all students

Collaboration (between students, parents, teachers, and community)

Developmentally appropriate practices

Integrating the curriculum through a thematic approach to instruction

Identifying and developing the eight intelligences: (visual/spatial, musical/rhythmic, interpersonal, verbal/linguistic,logical/mathematical, body/kinesthetic, intrapersonal, and naturalist)

Delivering instruction using the Multiple Intelligences

Constructive feedback that promotes self assessment
