Moore Family Farm
Jim, Diann, and sons, Wes and Aaron, raise antibiotic- and hormone-free grassfed beef, katahdin lamb, and goat; pastured free-range, antibiotic- and hormone-free Tamworth pork; chicken; broadbreasted white turkeys, and eggs in permaculture-type rotations with 20 acres of pesticide-free produce, herbs, and bedding plants on their 100-year old family farm near Watseka, Illinois. The Moores provide produce for Prairieland CSA (www.prairielandcsa.org). They provide eggs; meat; poultry; and farm fresh, stone-milled wheat flours, corn meal, polenta, and corn flour for Common Ground Food Coop and bacaro Italian restaurant in Champaign, Illinois. They also sell at the Saturday Market on the Square in Urbana, IL, the Sunday Farmers Market in Frankfort, IL, and at their farm near Watseka, IL.

Prairieland CSA is one of a handful of community supported agriculture programs in the state of Illinois, and is the largest program in Central Illinois.

Unlike most CSAs, PCSA was started by community members who wanted to strengthen ties between themselves and local farmers. Since 1994, PCSA has operated as a non profit organization (see bylaws) matching consumers with local farmers growing produce without pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.
