Muskego Lions Club History:
The Muskego Lions was chartered on tax day April 15th 1950. The Waukesha Lions Club was the sponsoring club. Charter Night was called to order by; John M. Couture First President of the Muskego Lions Club accepted Waukesha Lions Past President James D'Amato, Invocation Rev. G.L. Cloninger Waukesha Lions Club, Toastmaster Charles Horwitz Waukesha Lions Club, and the Club Charter. Since then we have sponsored the Hales Corners Lions Club and the Muskego Leo Club. From our oldest and longest running event, the Easter Egg Hunt (1964) 42 years to our most recent event the Lobster boil (2004), from our purchase of land, which was donated to the city as Lions park, to the construction of the Lions pavilion at Muskego's Veterans Memorial Park we have served.
We have been the charter organization representatives for Muskego Troop 19 BSA twice; at least one of the Eagle Scouts is the son of a charter member. We still have one charter member active in the club and one of our charter members had 50 years perfect attendance. Some of our club members have been active and respected members of the community for over 50 years as Lions and as citizens. As you can see when you browse our projects and events page along with our club's commitment to Lions charities our club has always been part of the Muskego fabric.
We plan on being around for another 50 plus years, with 13 women Lions and one Leo transfer to Lions we are setting our course for the future. Our club also has the distinction of the youngest Club President (24 years old at the time) ever in District 27-A1 history and maybe the state. Plodding our course maybe more accurate for our 27-year-old Parade Unit of motorized boats and their affinity for water and other things of liquid form. With our parade unit spreading Lionism and our yearly Mega Raffle as our anchor fundraiser we plan on being a force in both the Muskego and Lions Community for long time to come.
