Neel Road Baptist Church

135 Neel Road
704-636-0790

Mission:

Christ-centered, spirit-filled, Bible-believing church, dedicated to sharing God’s love by joyfully reaching, teaching, and serving all people.

History:

In September 1970 a group of believers, who were members of Baptist churches and who lived in the general vicinity of Mooresville Road and Neel Road, began to meet to explore the possibility of establishing a Baptist church on property at the intersection of named roads. As these believers continued to meet in homes, others joined them and soon a new work known as the Mooresville Road Baptist Chapel formally began.

First meeting in homes, the believers moved into larger quarters-making use of space between fire trucks at Locke Fire Station and eventually rooms of Hurley Elementary School

In September 1971, a year after the initial meetings, the believers held ground-breaking services for the construction of Neel Road Baptist Chapel. On November 18, 1973, a service was held to constitute Neel Road Baptist Chapel as a church.

Since its inception in 1970 through the present, the church has grown from a group of charter members to a membership of 365. As the church grew in number of believers through the years, its physical facility also grew. To the initial building of 1970/71 was added a two-level education wing which allowed for the expansion of the sanctuary. A separate building was constructed to house the fellowship/social needs of the church. In 2002 the church moved into a new sanctuary with music and administrative office wings-continuing to complete the initial vision of the earlier church planners.

Neel Road Baptist Church is a church which seeks to play its part in meeting spiritual, family, relational, and community needs of the people in southwestern Salisbury and Rowan County. It is a church that draws upon the richness of Christian heritage and theology, preserving biblical convictions with a spirit of grace as we pursue the everyday application and relevance of Christ's teachings.
