Rice Harrington was the Counselor of Cabin 10 at Camp Flaming Arrow in Hunt, Texas way back when three of the original board members of what was to become Cabin 10, Inc. were young students of each other’s company. Fortunately, he was in our midst. Rice died at the young age of 50 in July of 2003. Being the patron saint of giving more than you take, we found a way to keep his spirit alive by creating Cabin 10, Inc. and hosting this music festival which started out as the Rice Festival and has morphed into New Folk - Old Folk. The name has changed but our mission has stayed the same "Supporting the arts through the gifting of scholarships". As Rice taught us, we take only the satisfaction of helping others while having a great time doing it.
So, buy your wristband and come out Thursday night, set up camp and enjoy an informal evening of music and camaraderie. The Hillsiders will absolutely wow you for 90 minutes of acoustic virtuosity. Friday and Saturday, enjoy the morning at camp Solis with your own food and beverages or with coffee and breakfast from our food vendors next to Fischer Hall.
