About Us:
The Newberg Rifle & Pistol Club promotes the safe enjoyment of shooting sports. Emphasis is placed upon training for younger members, with several certified instructors available to help with practical advice and safety instruction on the range, as well as more formal classroom instruction.
The Club has developed a training course for persons interested in obtaining concealed handgun licenses for the states of Oregon, Utah, Arizona, and Florida. The course includes elements on handgun mechanisms, safety procedures, Oregon/Utah law on concealed carry and defensive use of a deadly weapon, and ends with individual instruction taking attendees through a live-fire exercise. This meets the Oregon, Utah, Arizona, and Florida state requirements for the issue of a concealed handgun licenses. For additional information please refer to the training link on the web site home page CHL Training or contact the club secretary at the address and telephone number listed at the end of this page.
The Club has use of an all-purpose 50 ft indoor range, suitable for .22 rimfire rifle and Centerfire pistols up to .45 caliber The facility was constructed by the Gibbs Community Club with grants from the Newberg Community Foundation, Oregon’s Department of Fish and Wildlife, the National Rifle Association, and contributions from local business and its members.
The facility is co-located with the Gibbs Historic School and Museum on Bell Road, at the junction with Quarry Road, just north of the town of Newberg. Restoration of the school is one of the few remaining original one room wooden construction school houses still in existence, and the only such on its original site in Yamhill county.
