About Us:

Newberry College's 90-acre campus is located in Newberry, South Carolina, the safest city in the state. With 24 majors, 31 minors, 1,092 students, and a 17:1 student-teacher ratio, Newberry College ensures that students receive individual attention and guidance as part of its values-based curriculum.

We bring out the best in our students by offering a varied curriculum in areas such as nursing, biology, chemistry and pre-health programs. We also feature one of the only undergraduate forensic chemistry programs in the state. Newberry College graduates have a great acceptance rate for graduate and professional schools.

Offering more than 50 organizations for students, Newberry provides many opportunities for excellence outside the classroom. Over fifty percent of our students participate in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The athletics program includes fifteen NCAA Division II sports for men and women.

Founded in 1856 by the Lutheran Church, the College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and the National Association of Schools of Music.

With its antebellum mansions and tree-lined streets, Newberry, South Carolina is both quaint and modern. The local area, with its moderate climate, provides many different year-round recreational opportunities including golfing, boating, and hiking. Both the beach and the mountains are an easy drive from Newberry and South Carolina's state capital, Columbia, is only forty-five minutes from our campus.
