Welcome to North City Presbyterian Church's official web site. We want to invite you to share in praise and fellowship with the Lord.
We've been serving the San Diego community since 1985. Our church sits on a beautiful eight acre site located in the Sabre Springs planned community of North San Diego.
History
The Growth of North City Presbyterian Church With a prayer, "Lord, send us the people of Your choice," the church we know today as North City Presbyterian Church (NCPC) was born. It was the fall of 1985 and Dave and Darlene Eby had just relocated to San Diego. The Lord answered their prayer by delivering five couples from the Rancho Penasquitos area and three people from Westminster Seminary in nearby Escondido. Three months later, what was then known as Grace Presbyterian Church presented their first sermon with 85 people in attendance. God had begun to sow the seeds of a vibrant church.
With the Lord's help and the sheer determination of its founding members, in 1989 Grace Presbyterian became a self-supporting church, ordained three elders and officially installed Dave Eby as pastor. A few years later, in 1992, the church merged with Chaparral Hills Presbyterian Church and changed its name to North City Presbyterian Church. In 1994, North City Presbyterian Church moved to the rented facilities of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. In the spring of 1996, North City Presbyterian Church added an evening service to its regular Sunday morning worship. By the fall of the 1997, North City Presbyterian Church was supporting six missionary families in Mexico, France, Kazakston and Uganda. That same year, North City Presbyterian Church sent a team of nine to Zana, Uganda to plant what would become a sister church, Community Presbyterian Church.
Today, North City Presbyterian Church has an active border ministry in Tijuana Mexico. With an active children's and women's ministry and a growing men's ministry, North City Presbyterian Church has more than 90 percent of its adults involved in church ministry. In addition, North City Presbyterian Church has developed a successful Vacation Bible School program and built a growing Kid's Club, Children Sunday School Program and Pioneer Club ministry.
The kingdom of God, "it is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade." (Mark 4:31-32)
