The league founders are Nick Balmann, Frank Bollwage, Stan Curtis, Joseph Downery, Joseph McGlynn, Henry Moss and Joseph Nugent. At the start in 1967 the league played its games at Kenah Field. At that time there were 150 members. NEYBL moved to its new field, Sisselman Field, in 1967.They were given a lease by Rosemont Cemetery to use their land. In 1998, they joined Babe Ruth Baseball. In their first year, they won districts in several age divisions. NEYBL offers baseball to children 5-15 years of age. Over the years they have won many tournaments and district championships. They were the 2000 State of New Jersey Babe Ruth 12 & Under State Champs, the first ever for youth baseball in Elizabeth.

Now in 2003 we will celebrate 37 years of baseball and have grown to over 400 members. The league is run totally by voluteers.
