About Us:
North Greene Unit District No. 3 is a preK-12 school district located in an agricultural community in west central Illinois. It serves students from the communities of Roodhouse, White Hall, Hillview, and Patterson as well as their rural areas. The district provides North Greene Elementary School (grades pre-K through 6) located in Roodhouse and North Greene Junior-Senior High School (grades 7-12) located in White Hall. The Regional Office of Education No. 40 currently operates an Alternative Center for Education-Greene for students in need of a non-traditional school setting for grades 7-12 as well as a day-time GED program in the former White Hall Elementary building in White Hall.
The community is supported by three basic industries: Zoetis (formerly Pfizer) Animal Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, White House Manufacturing (a subsidiary of Bunn-O-Matic Company), and Hanor, Inc. (a large hog production facility), along with several businesses and service companies that are connected with agriculture production.
The district administrative office is also located in the former White Hall Elementary building, 250 East Sherman Street in White Hall. The building not only houses the administrative offices but also the meeting room for the board of education.
The district serves approximately 865 students. North Greene Elementary houses approximately 480 Pre-K-6 students while North Greene Junior-Senior High School houses approximately 130 students in grades 7-8 and 245 students in grades 9-12. The district is a member of the Four Rivers Special Education cooperative, with special education services provided within the district as well as facilities located outside the district. The district employs about 70 licensed educators, 61 support staff members and two building administrators as well as the district superintendent and a supervising principal.
