Northley Middle School serves approximately 800 students in grades six, seven, and eight in the Penn-Delco community.
Our academic program features 60 teachers organized into six teams, two for each grade, with a full exploratory program serving all three grades. Each year, every student takes English, Reading , Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies along with an "arts" cycle of courses including physical education/health, art, family and consumer science, technology education, library skills, guidance, modern languages, computers, music, Reading and Math Workshops.
There are three instructional levels; honors, academic, and achievement. These are augmented with an enrichment seminar for gifted students and instructional support services for students with special needs. Students in Honors level classes in eighth grade may take Algebra 1, Physical Science, and either Spanish or French 1, in preparation for honors geometry, honors biology and French or Spanish 2 in ninth grade at Sun Valley High School .
Northley Middle School offers a full range of student activities which includes interscholastic sports, Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, newspaper, yearbook, math counts, video club, art club and drama club. Other clubs can be formed at the request of teachers to meet specific student desires.
Northley Middle School receives students from Aston, Coebourn, Parkside, and Pennell elementary schools in the district as well as any resident student transfers. Our mission statement and "Northley Promise" included here foster our purpose as a school for the transition adolescent years during which students are forming their own opinions about themselves, others, and the world of information around them.
