Oak Grove Baptist Church is a growing, thriving Southern Baptist Church located in the mountains of Western North Carolina. We are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, the North Carolina Baptist State Convention, and the Avery Baptist Association.
What we believe:
The Scriptures- We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired, that is has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds and religious opinions should be tried.
God - There is one and only one living and true God, the Creator and Ruler of the universe, infinite in holiness and all other perfection, to whom we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. He is revealed to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
The Fall of Man - Man was created by God in his own image. He was created in a state of holiness but, through the temptation of Satan, he transgressed the command of God and fell from his original holiness and righteousness, whereby he is now under bondage to sin and condemnation.
Salvation- Salvation came as a free gift to us through the Son of God, Jesus Christ; who by the Holy Spirit was born of a virgin, became Flesh and dwelt on earth, yet without sin; He was crucified and died as an atonement for our sins, was buried and after three days arose from the dead. Jesus Christ then ascended to Heaven and will return again some day to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Salvation can not be obtained through good works.
Eternal Security - God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, therefore the believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is not maintained by man but by the grace and power of God. Those that are truly saved cannot "lose" their salvation.
