Ministries

The leaders of the church are not the only ones doing the work of service or ministry. The leaders are given to the church for the purpose of preparing every member to do the ministry––to render service to the Lord, to the church, and to the world. We are striving to have each and every member serving actively in ministry according to the gifts that God has given them.

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service [diakonia], so that the body of Christ may be built up. Ephesians 4:11-12

In our fast-paced, high-tech world, we often fail to recognize that God is intricately involved in the details of our lives. Yet not only is God involved in our daily routines, but He also wants us to be aware of and responsive to His presence.We are excited about what God is doing through our church family. We believe that God has uniquely placed us in our community to have a tremendous impact for kingdom growth. Oakland Baptist Church has been serving God in Roanoke since the 1920’s and we are thankful that He continues to lead us.
