The Oakland Volunteer Fire Department is located in Garrett County Maryland. We are a non profit organization. The company holds fundraisers to raise money for new apparatus and many other items. One of our major fundraisers is our annual Oktoberfest which is held on a weekend in the month of October. Please check back for the exact days of our fundraisers.
OVFD has over 40 active members in our station. The station is assisted by many other companies in the surrounding area. John Feather is the current chief of the fire station. He has been the chief for the past 2 years, assistant, and deputy chief in the past. The administration is run by the President Fred Callis. He has been president for the past 5 years. The company membership is open to anyone who wants to volunteer there time. The company has a junior volunteer membership. So teens the age of 16 and over may join and run with the company.
OVFD runs a customized 2004 E-One Engine Rescue that pumps 1250 gpm, 1993 E-One 75 foot Quint Ladder Truck. The OVFD also runs 1995 E-One 1500 gallon Tanker. The Units run out of the station located on 3rd street in down town Oakland. All units where purchased from the vote of all members.
