The Charles Street School (CSS) houses grades kindergarten through sixth. The kindergarten program is a half-day program that focuses on the whole child and preparing the individual academically and socially for school. In grades one through six, emphasis is on the education of the whole child while meeting individual needs in order to be the most effective in providing meaningful instruction. CSS provides special education services for those who are eligible and also addresses the needs of children with exceptional abilities by providing accelerated instruction in grades three through six.

A state-of-the-art student computer lab houses 25 robust Dell computers with Office XP, a black and white network printer, a color network printer, and dedicated, broadband internet access. These computers, as well as the rest of the computers in the district, have filtered internet access in compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act. This lab environment allows the students to utilize technology for curriculum goals while mazimizing student safety. In addition, the lab houses a wall mounted SmartBoard, a ceiling mounted projector, a VCR/DVD unit, and a sound system. Additional special areas of instruction are provided in art, music, health and physical education, use of the media center, and world language instruction, specifically Spanish
