Working Towards The Goals we All Value
The Democratic Party of Pasco County, Florida, hereby states its principles and positions:
We believe in the standards set forth in the Preamble to the Constitution as to the purposes of government. These are: to insure justice; to provide for the general welfare; to promote domestic tranquility; to secure liberty for this and future generations; to secure the benefits of liberty; and to defend the nation. To fulfill these purposes we believe that government at all levels--national, state, and local-- should be held to these standards and obligations, in establishing their goals, policies, and programs.
We believe the Constitution was intended to provide stability, while also providing for change and democratic growth through amendments and interpretations, in order to better serve and support the basic values of the Preamble.
Basic rights and liberties, such as freedom of speech, freedom of movement, freedom of opportunity, and freedom of religion, among others, should be among our government's top priorities, respected and protected by legislation. These efforts shall be most reflective of American democratic principles.
We further recognize that our government and nation are part of an international community, and believe that American actions and policies abroad should reflect our principles and values.
