“The mind is like a parachute– it only works when it is open."

Perry Harrison school was established during the 1996-1997 school year. The school was built to alleviate over-crowding at North Chatham School.

The school serves a K-8 population of approximately 660 students.

Many staff members worked together at North Chatham before coming to Perry Harrison. This enabled the school to have a strong core group of people to help establish stability.

Patsy Stanley was the principal from 1996-2000. George Hancock was the principal from 2000-2002. Beverly Browne was the principal from 2002-2006. Valgean Mitchell is the current principal of Perry Harrison School.

The staff consist of highly qualified, dedicated educators who have established a learning community of excellence.

The school is centrally located. It is about 12 miles from Chapel Hill and about 7 miles from the town of Pittsboro. This allows for a strong relationship with the University of North Carolina.

Parents and community members are integral to the success of the school. Through donations and volunteerism, the school receives a great deal of support.
