Pine Island Chamber of Commerce

PO Box 354
845-258-4444

About The Chamber:

Located in southeastern New York state's Orange County in the Town of Warwick, the hamlet of Pine Island is rich in a heritage rooted in "black dirt" agriculture.

The black dirt region, originally called "the drowned lands", consists of the remains of a great shallow lake, which formed as the last glaciers were melting away 12,000 years ago.

One half the onions grown in New York State come from our 5500 acres of farmland. The main type of onion grown is the yellow globe, which is a premium cooking onion. Other crops grown in the black dirt area include lettuce, radishes, cabbage, carrots, corn, pumpkin, squash, as well as sod farms.

Our business and individual members invite you to come and visit and see this unique part of New York for yourself.
