Pine Lakes was formerly known as Green Acres Golf Course before it was purchased in 2004 by Phil and Judy Preston. After purchasing the golf course from the Gould family, the Preston's began making many improvements. First, the name changed to Pine Lakes. New ball washers, yardage markers, benches, and color coded flag poles were added to the golf course. Modifications were made to some of the tee-boxes, greens were enlarged or reshaped and sand traps were added.
In 2013, construction began on a brand new clubhouse. The new clubhouse is a beautiful facility for the members and casual golfers alike. The clubhouse has men's and women's locker rooms with showers and storage lockers for members. There is a snack bar, full service bar, game room, shuffle board, big screen TV's, licensed poker machines, and plenty of comfortable seating. The clubhouse also features banquet facilities for wedding receptions, birthdays, corporate events, and golf outings.
Phil was a successful roofing contractor in the Kankakee area before purchasing the golf course and relocating to Southern Illinois with his family. Phil and his sons, Scott and Brett, can be seen working on the grounds or on one of the many developments they have around the golf course. Pine Lakes gives Phil and Judy the opportunity to spend quality time with their three children and five grandsons while continuing to improve the golf course and it's surroundings.
