Redeemer Lutheran Church dates its origins back more than 60 years ago to a dream held by the Rev. H. M. Tjernagel to begin a mission in New Hampton. He was the pastor of the Saude and Jerico parish at this time. His dream came true when the Norwegian Synod called candidate Nils C. Oelseby to begin the mission June 2, 1940. The congregation was formally organized November 30, 1941. Worship was held at several locations in New Hampton until the present church building was transferred to its location at the corner of West Court and North Sherman in September of 1953. The parsonage was also moved in from another location on April 22, 1960. Many improvements have been done to both buildings to bring them to their present state.
Redeemer Lutheran Church is a strong member of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod which is affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. These churches pride themselves in the principle of "Bible alone", meaning that the Bible is and will always be in all entirety the inerrant word of God. We are here to spread God's light unto all nations and therefore our church's mission statement is "To spread God's kingdom into the hearts of all people."
