History
We stand in the long tradition of Christians who are known as Baptists. The first Baptists came to Rehoboth from Wales in 1663 in order to avoid religious persecution. They settled in Rehoboth, naming the section of the town Swansea after the place they had left in their home country. Here they established a church and since that time there has been a succession of Baptist churches in the town of Rehoboth. Rehoboth Baptist Church is the most recent of these churches having been established in June 14, 1974 with a starting congregation of 4 people. The first public worship service was held at Johnson's Barn, Rehoboth on July 21, 1974. Today some 150 people worship each Sunday in our present facility which was dedicated to the glory of God in 1983. Our church is an active member of The Conservative Baptist Association of America, a fellowship of almost 1200 Baptist churches throughout the United States. We are a missions oriented church and support missionaries and agencies in the United States and around the world. As of 2003, we support missionaries in a total of eleven countries.
Message Of The Church
We proclaim the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as the only of salvation (Acts 4:12). This message is the GOOD NEWS that people of every kind and from every walk of life need to hear so that in believing they might be forgiven of their sins and be reconciled to God.
The Purpose of the Church
Our purpose is to bring honor and glory to God in all that we do and say (Matthew 5:13-16; Colossians 3:17). Our purpose is to know and enjoy God through worship, prayer, and the study of the Bible. Our purpose is to apply that knowledge to our lives that we might please God by growing in His grace and sharing His love with our fellow man.
