OUR PURPOSE:
To insure the Basic Values in Education we stress the Six (6) R's,
-R eading
-R iting
-R ithmatic
-R espect-for the rights of others
-R esponsibilities-for one's own actions
-R ealization-of the great potential with which each person is endowed
OUR PHILOSOPHY:
Richard E. Byrd Middle School has as its main purpose the education of the whole pupil so that one will develop into a constructive member of society. Our school philosophy is our belief that middle school is a place where pupils live, work and play together, learning naturally through their experiences. We believe that education is a multi-faceted endeavor, which encompasses many areas, including an appreciation of our American heritage an ideals, exposure to the basic moral values of this nation, and respect for oneself and the rights of others.
We recognize the uniqueness of each individual and provide a safe learning atmosphere in which one may realize one's own maximum potential. It is our conviction that our parents want primary emphasis placed on academic skills and we work toward providing a comprehensive educational program which teaches pupils that they are ultimately responsible for their own lives.
Parents, staff and the community must join together to accomplish all these aims - by guiding, teaching and setting worthy examples for our young people.
