CSA baskets are always given preference over our market tables and whole sales. We try to fill the basket with a variety of produce that will be consumed with in that week, so the customer is not over whelmed with one item.
Our farm is a small labor intensive operation. We mainly grow vegetables, but also have fruits, berries, and soon livestock. I(Michael) have been farming, on my own, since the mid-90's mainly as a hog farmer-Daniel joined in 2000 and we started vegetable raising. Most of our farm is certified organic, the part that is not organic is treated the same as organic but the seed used on that portion of our farm is not available in organic or untreated yet--those specific seeds we plant is what prevents us from certifying that field. For the last several years we have been increasing our knowledge of raising produce. We sell most of our goods at farmers markets in Indy, near Chicago, and around our area. CSAs is the next adventure we plan to tackle. Wholesale to other marketeers and restaurants is a part of our farm as well.
