Richmond Yacht Club has earned a reputation as a racing yacht club by hosting international class races, national one design races, local races, and by competing throughout the world, bringing home trophies and by organizing the best Junior Program on the Bay, a program that brought honors to RYC when the Richmond Kids brought the prestigious Sears Cup home from the USYRU 3-person Junior Championships in 1981. The skipper was John Kostecki with crewmen Rand Arnold, Albert Boyce Jr., and Mark Hempstead. At present second and third generation "Juniors" are still learning and making RYC proud promoters of youth sailing.
About The RYC Foundation:
The Richmond Yacht Club Foundation was founded in 1990 as a California non-profit charitable corporation. Its purpose is to help Bay Area sailors and sailing organizations by providing assistance in training, travel, seminars, and other needs.
The Foundation is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors and has no paid employees.
Funds are raised by appeals for donations of money, boats, sailing equipment, cars, real estate, and securities which may be sold to raise funds. Donations may be deductible as a charitable contribution depending on the pertinent tax laws.
2006 has been another successful year for the Foundation as we continue our support of local sailors participating in events at the highest competitive levels. Typically we help with registration fees, charters and travel expenses. All RYC members should be proud of the Foundation's accomplishments and those of its grantees.
