The Rimersburg Rod & Gun Club was established in 1936 and is located just east of Rimersburg, PA on Lawsonham Rd. It is located on over 200 acres of land that is made up of both wooded and farmed land. Part of the property is planted with food plots of corn, clover, and buckwheat. We also have apple, crabapple and chestnut trees. The rest of the property is under a forest management program.
The club grounds are open to small game and all big game hunting (bear, deer and turkey). Members are afforded a wide variety of activities and we continue to expand on those as our membership grows. We have one of the area's only 500 yard rifle ranges, with six covered shooting benches, and targets at 25, 35, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 yards. A new outdoor law enforcement grade pistol was built to replace the previous range. This range continues to be a ‘work in progress’ and will provide a variety of target ranges and types as we continue to grow it. The range is handicap accessible. We have a unique archery range where archers can shoot from the ground or from a 15 ft. high elevated platform. The archers can test their ability at fixed targets at 10, 20, and 30 yards as well as several movable 3-D targets. For the anglers we offer a half acre pond that has bass, crappie, and cat fish. Each spring we stock the pond with trout for our annual children's Fish-4-Fun day, but after the fishing derby all members are welcome to fish for the trout.
The air conditioned clubhouse has seating for around 100 with an adjoining pavilion. It has a full kitchen, handicap accessible restrooms and a children's play area. A new pavilion with two picnic tables was installed near the pond where renters or may sit and enjoy the surroundings. The club house is available for rent but it is best to make reservations well in advance as it is a popular location for family reunions, graduation parties bridal and baby showers.
We realize our children are one of our most important assets. Each year we try to increase the number of activities we offer our youth. In addition to our annual fishing derby, where all kids receive prizes, we also hold a hunter/trapper education course, we have a game tasting booth at the Clarion County Youth Field Day and offer two annual scholarships of $1000, one to a graduate of Union High School and one to a child of a member or a member who is not in Union School district. We have also offered Youth Air Gun and Basics of Fishing classes. We are also home to one of the state's largest and most successful Big Buck Contests, with a special youth classification.
We are a member of the Clarion County Federation of Sportsman's Club and PA Rifle & Pistol Association. We are also a Civilian Marksmanship Program Affiliate.
