About Us:
At Riverdale Elementary School, we have one focus in mind…quality education.
Riverdale Elementary School embracees its culturally diverse community by collaborating to create challenging educational experiences for students enabling them to think critically about their world and become life-long learners.
Our primary focus is building LITERACY. Literacy is defined as the ability to read for knowledge, write coherently and think critically about printed material. Literacy represents the lifelong, intellectual process of gaining meaning from print. The key to all literacy is reading development, which begins with the ability to understand spoken words and decode written words; this foundation develops into a deep understanding of all forms of text.
When students can read, write, and have a thorough understanding of words and print, they are more likely to succeed in other academic areas. As a community, we will work together to prepare our students for future success by building a strong foundation in reading and mathematics. We will meet this goal by challenging them to be team players, innovative thinkers, and technologically savvy individuals. Parents, staff, and community supporters, let’s go on a mission together to expose our students to many forms of text (books, newspapers, magazines, cookbooks, charts, etc.), encourage students to practice their basic math skills, engage them in meaningful conversations about what they are learning, and provide them with many opportunities to apply their knowledge to real-world situations (using money, following a recipe, measuring, playing educational games, etc.).
