In June 1950, the Rotary Club of Kissimmee was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Winter Park and chartered by Rotary International. James V.I. Windland was the organizing president followed by the election of Al Cody as president in 1951.
The club’s first service project was picnic pavilions at Brinson Park which the members built on weekends. Later the club sponsored a fleet of 16 sailing prams for the youth of the community directed by K.C. Moore and his son. The next major project was a series of “community benefit dinners” which featured a notable speaker and entertainment from the United States Marine band and in the following years the Florida Symphony Orchestra.
