Mission & Ministry:
"We extend the healing ministry of Christ by caring for those who are ill and by nurturing the health of the people in our communities".
More than a century ago, the Poor Sisters of St. Francis had the vision to build a hospital to care for the sick and injured in their the growing Denver community. It was not an easy undertaking for the sisters, most of them new to America and speaking only German. Under the guidance of Sister Mary Huberta, they moved forward with their goal, drawing strength from St. Anthony, known as the wonder worker able to restore confidence in the timid and frightened. Since the hospital's opening in 1893, this spirit is still very much a part of of St. Anthony Hospital and our mission to care for those in our community.
