St. Basil's was founded on July 17, 1983 by a group of devout Orthodox Christians who wished to maintain the True Faith according to the teachings and Traditions of the Orthodox Church. St. Basil's has always followed and maintained a cycle of services as set forth under the Julian or 'Old Calendar'.

The new and permanent home of St. Basil's is a beautiful church which is situated on 7+ acres of land in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County. Topped with one main glittering gold dome and two smaller domes, each of which is adorned with a traditional style three-bar cross, St. Basil's has maintained traditional architecture, and is quickly becoming a local landmark.

In addition to a complete social hall under the church, St. Basil's has a fully equipped picnic pavilion on the grounds. There is also an illuminated cross at the far end of the church property, which is visible to passers-by.
