Mission Statement:
It is the mission of San Martin/Gwinn School to instill a sense of personal responsibility, arouse curiosity, encourage creativity and empower students and staff to accept nothing less than the exercise of their maximum potential.
Belief Statement:
The San Martin/Gwinn Community Staff believes that all students at San Martin/Gwinn have the ability and right to learn and that students learn best in an emotionally and physically safe environment whre each child is respected, valued and included. We believe that all children can learn if teachers identify what students know and use that knowledge as th basis for planning instruction.
Goals:
All students at San Martin/Gwinn School will be presented with an integrated, aligned curriculum that emphasizes differentiated instructional materials, approaches and pacing as appropriate to meet their needs. (Academic Achievement)
Students with a handicapping condition, a primary language other than English, or achievement levels significantly above or below those of the majority of students will be provided with an integrated program allowing him or her to experience a continuity of services as well as achieve academic success to the extent of his or her ability. All students will be presented with opportunities to participate in classroom and extra-curricular activities that serve to enhance self-esteem. Examples include student government, cooperative learning, noontime sports, Computer Club, and various language arts activities (student journals and autobiographies). (Self-esteem)
