The Sasquanaug Association, founded in 1887,  is a charitable organization based in Southport that performs as a citizen advocate group that monitors and influences local activities that impact the Southport area, including planning and zoning, historic district, and other issues that challenge the town.   It manages several historic and important landmarks, notably the Sea Lodge, Robinson Cottage, and Southport Park.  The association relies on membership dues and donations to fund their activities and encourage all who live in the 06890 zip code to join.
