Opening its doors in October of 2014, Sassafras Shade Vineyard and Winery is a family-owned and –operated venue. With the unselfish help of relatives, and numerous friends as well, we care for the vineyard, create the wines, bottle, label, and serve the fruits of our labors, literally. Our driveway passes through the middle of the vineyard, then continues into the shaded stretch that leads to the tasting room. Enjoy a tasting, a glass of wine, share a bottle, or choose bottled wines to go! Please call in advance if your group will be 8 or larger.

We invite you to visit our rustic tasting room constructed using timber from the property and complete with repurposed wood tables and old-fashioned chairs. Outside we have a covered front porch boasting rocking chairs and a porch swing, as well as a patio with table and chairs and 2 picnic tables. While we have light fare available in the form of select Boar’s Head products and Simply Cheddar Cheese Balls, you are welcomed to bring your own snacks or picnic.
