Education Philosophy:
The Mellen School District believes that its educational system should provide opportunities for all students to acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities to become productive members of our society. Our system should also strive to inspire and encourage students to understand and live by the principles of socially acceptable behavior, moral integrity and civic esponsibility.
District education programs and curricula should be concerned with encouraging parents to provide the environment to support learning and education. Our programs should be adjusted as needed to meet the needs of all our students. Such adjustments should involve the board of education, administration, students, parents, and community residents.
The District also believes that education is a lifelong activity. Continuing education as adults will be necessary to update or obtain skills and abilities in order to keep pace with our ever-changing global society.
