The Greater Washington Shandong Association was founded in 1988 and is one of the largest and most influential Chinese communities in the Greater Washington area. We are committed to strengthening the friendship and exchanges among Shandong compatriots and promoting exchanges and cooperation between the Greater Washington area and Shandong in various fields such as science and technology, culture and economy. The association organizes various public and friendship activities every year and provides support for the construction and development of the hometown.
Over the past thirty years, with the aim of strengthening friendship and exchanges among Shandong compatriots and promoting exchanges and cooperation between the Washington, D.C. area and Shandong in various fields such as science and technology, culture and economy, the Shandong Association has actively organized various convenience and friendship activities. It has also built bridges for the construction and development of its hometown and donated money and materials to the people in disaster-stricken or impoverished areas of its hometown.
With the efforts of successive presidents and the board of directors, the association has gradually developed and grown. The current president is Hu Ronghua, and the board of directors has 23 members. The association holds annual Spring Festival and Lantern Festival parties, Mid-Autumn Festival outdoor barbecue parties, and various knowledge lectures for the convenience of the public. As many as 500 Shandong compatriots have participated in the activities of the association. It is one of the Chinese communities with the largest number of people and the greatest influence in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
