The history of our church was published in 1976 as part of the bicentennial fervor. It was updated and published again in conjunction with our 125th Anniversary celebration in 1992. Recently the History Team, under the leadership of Harry Sharp, has been updating and reorganizing our printed history. All of the pastors and associates appointed to our church from 1992 until the present have been contacted and have provided information for our history.

All of us are repositories of history, and we would like to tap those rich veins. The two primary requests are for 1.) Write one or more paragraphs about happenings at Sikeston First UMC over the last 15 years; and 2.) Drop by the office and review the DRAFT of our updated history. After reviewing it, please provide any comments, corrections, or additions. If possible please provide your information in typed or e-mail form, however, hand-written information will also be appreciated.

Recently, you saw that a former associate minister, Rev. John Ray, was retiring at this year’s Annual Conference. Well, he is one of several associates who are not included in our history. Rev. Ray was contacted and provided the following information which has now been added:
