Smithfield Elementary supports a school culture that embraces diversity and fosters mutual respect and responsibility through the active involvement of students, parents, teachers and community members. With passion and commitment, we focus on the development of the whole child, taking into consideration their intellectual, emotional, social and physical needs. We believe that only by empowering our students to achieve through their own efforts will they gain the motivation and knowledge necessary to reach their maximum potential as productive members of society.

Smithfield Elementary is part of the Albert Gallatin Area School District in southwestern Pennsylvania in Fayette County.  We are located 9 miles south of Uniontown, PA in the Borough of Smithfield.  The southern end of the Albert Gallatin School District borders West Virginia. Pittsburgh is located approximately 50 miles north of Smithfield and Morgantown, West Virginia is located approximately 15 miles to the south. Our district is a large, rural area consisting of 144 square miles. The student population at Albert Gallatin School District is 4,180 with 330 students attending Smithfield. Our elementary school houses kindergarten through fifth grade students, provides modern, safe facilities and an excellent learning environment. Our School has a Library/Media Center that contains 30 personal computers. Each classroom has at least one computer with Internet access available for use by students or the teachers. Modular classrooms are present to help facilitate class sizes of seventeen or less for students in first, second and the fourth grade. Our students receive instruction from five itinerant instructors in the subjects of Art, Computer Literacy, Library Sciences, Physical Education and Music.
