Welcome to our school profile. At Smyrna Middle School we service approximately 700 seventh and eighth graders. The vision of the staff of Smyrna Middle School is to enhance the academic, physical, social and emotional aspects of our students through a quality educational program. We expect to take the student at whatever level of academic achievement he/she may have reached, and spend the necessary time to bring him/her to the ninth grade level of achievement in readiness for high school. We also want to continue each student's social and emotional progress toward becoming a responsible, compassionate citizen. We recognize and must ensure a safe and health-conscious environment for the physical well being of our students.

Mission:

The Smyrna Middle School staff utilizes middle level approaches such as teaming, interdisciplinary units, advisory, mentoring, and interventions to assist students in their development. With a child-centered approach, we stress the message that children can enjoy learning for its own sake and it is in the middle grades that they can really begin to make something of themselves as independent learners. Our staff makes a strong commitment and we have high expectations for our students. Students are offered strong core academic programs.
