Mission
Soji Zen Center through the teaching of meditation, liturgy and the study of Buddhist scriptures is committed to bringing ethnic diversity to American Buddhism. This task is critical to finding Buddhism’s true home in the west and ending the suffering of all people.
About
Soji Zen Center is a community of people who meditate, study, and observe Zen rituals together. Our lineage comes through both the Soto and Rinzai lines of Japanese – style Zen, and yet we are recognizably an ‘American-style’ Zen community.
Soji is a contemporary Buddhist center providing instruction in Zen meditation, philosophy and contemplation techniques for training the mind. The Center is part of the White Plum lineage which brings together elements of Japanese Soto and Rinzai traditions of Zen Buddhism. Our offerings include meditation, dharma talks, workshops and retreats. We are guided by our founding teacher, Sensei Jules Shuzen Harris.
