South Florida Urban Ministries, Inc.

SFLUM is a non-profit organization, currently headquartered in Coconut Grove, Florida, with five additional locations throughout Southeast Florida.

SFLUM helps individuals and families fulfill their potential through ministries of compassion, empowering people to move from poverty to prosperity. SFLUM believes that prosperous communities can only be built through prosperous individuals and families who are provided with opportunities, tools and guidance to reach their potential. To provide these tools and much needed guidance, SFLUM operates five urban ministry community centers with a focus of providing long-term solutions for communities in three core impact areas. These locations are spread across South Florida with locations in Pompano Beach, North Miami Beach, North Miami, South Miami and Florida City. SFLUM's three primary impact areas are: 1) Economic Empowerment 2) Children, Youth and Family Development 3) Quality-of-Life Enhancement and Primary Need Services.

With a team of deeply committed staff, programs such as Branches, ASSETS and the United Way Center for Financial Stability are transforming the lives of children, families and entrepreneurs through the power of education. The successful results have been energizing for volunteers, staff and clients. To continue to increase our capabilities to serve thousands of more people in need, we are looking for dynamic, motivated, goal-oriented individuals to join our team as AmeriCorps Members.

Branches Program

Branches is a holistic program that provides opportunities for children, youth and their families to:

• Fulfill their potential
• Become better educated
• Make positive life choices
• Move from poverty to prosperity

Branches is well-known for its quality After School Program that tutors, mentors and provides other academic enrichment support to students in Florida City, South Miami, North Miami Beach and Pompano Beach. However, Branches is more than an after school program. It is a partnership of the program participants, alumni, staff, volunteers and other community members. Branches nurtures relationships among all these stakeholders, to support the efforts of Branches students, their families, and neighbors to achieve well-being and contribute to their communities in the long-term. Branches anchors all the other services that South Florida Urban Ministries delivers in Southeast Florida.
