"The purpose of St. John's is to be the body of Christ in this place, nourished by the traditional celebration of the Word and Sacrament, thereby enabled to grow and to serve each other, our community and Christ's people everywhere."
This congregation confesses the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
This congregation confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the Gospel as the power of God for the salvation of all who believe.
This congregation accepts the canonical Scriptures of the Old and new Testaments as the inspired Word of God and the authoritative source and norm of its proclamation, faith and life.
This congregation confesses the Gospel, recorded in the Holy Scriptures and confesses in the ecumenical creeds (Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian) and Lutheran confessional writings as the power of God to create and sustain the Church for God's mission in the world.
The Church exists both as an inclusive fellowship and as local congregations gathered for worship and Christian service. Congregations find their fulfillment in the universal community of the Church, and the universal Church exists in and through congregations.
St. John's was organized in 1903 and dedicated its first building in 1906. The present church was dedicated in 1923, with the parish house completing the structure in 1951. Most recent additions are the Bradford organ, dedicated in 1990, the air conditioning of our worship space, and an accessibility lift, dedicated in February of 2000.
