Star Elementary is known for being a Love and Logic school.  The entire staff adopted the Love and Logic philosophy six years ago.  Along with the staff being trained in Love and Logic, they also began teaching courses in Parenting with Love and Logic which were offered twice a year for community members.

Star's fifth grade students were asked to present their "We The People" presentation at the Idaho State High School Competition.  Peter Kavouras, the State Coordinator for the Center for Civic Education, asked our fifth grade students to showcase the elementary program for locally attorneys, state representatives, and business professionals.  Our students were the only elementary school invited to the competition.  The reports from the judges, including the Deputy Superintendent of the Department of Education, believe the fifth grade students performed as well as the high school students competing in the competition.

Star's commitment to academic growth for all students is evident in their Response to Intervention program.  Each child is assessed weekly for progress monitoring.  The data is tracked and analyzed by grade level teams.  Star is a leader in collaboration and has had several schools visit to observe the collaboration process.  The collaboration process is engrained in our school culture and is the key behind our community.
