Stonehedge Elementary School, nestled in the middle of a residential neighborhood, is part of an academic complex which includes West Genesee Middle School. The well-maintained grounds and building reflect the respect and responsibility that drive our daily activities both academically and behaviorally.
Newly renovated in 1994, Stonehedge boasts a state of the art media center along with technologically advanced classrooms which provide five computers in each classroom to support the instructional program. A media distribution rack in the library and televisions in each classroom allow us to broadcast daily morning announcements, featuring our students as the newscasters. With an active and supportive parent group, our PTA sponsors many programs for students including an after school enrichment program (1 week), cultural programs, roller skating, Parents as Reading Partners (PARP) and other family activities.
Stonehedge is a K-5 facility composed of two teams grades 1-5, each with its own principal. Kindergartners are housed in the Blue Team wing of the building, with children being assigned to a specific team after kindergarten. The teams maintain geographic diversity within the larger school community. However, to maintain the concept of one school, the students on each team are combined for chorus, band, orchestra, and PTA events.
Stonehedge is very much a community based school utilized beyond the school day, not only for West Genesee's athletic groups but also community athletic groups, as well as Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups, thus supporting programs for the youth of our community.
Stonehedge is proud of its outstanding staff which creates a positive learning environment that is focused on high expectations for students and their growth in the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to be successful students and citizens.
