Sunshine Meadows Farm
We are a family farm that has been gardening here in MI since 2003. The 2008 season was our first to offer produce via the CSA model. Each week from June until October there will be a variety of fresh, in-season vegetables and fruits. The early season generally consist of leafy greens, kale, swiss chard, radishes, spinach, peas, beets, kohlrabi and some herbs along with strawberries. Summer produces the majority of produce including tomatoes, eggplants, bell peppers, green beans, melons, cucumbers, squash of all varieties and broccoli and herbs continue. Apples, pears, peaches hopefully will also be included in the next season. Fall reverts back to the cool season crops with the additon of brussel sprouts, broccoli and winter squash.
Throughout the season, some produce do better than others, some fail. As partners in agriculture we share the benefits of bumper crops and the risks of a crop failure.
We are a small, family farm utilizing organic/natural practices in raising our food and animals. We have a mixed flock of chickens and sell brown, green, white and chocolate eggs in a mixed (not graded) dozen. Our chickens enjoy spending their days out on pasture that is free from pesticides and herbicides, and choose to roost in their coop when the sun sets at night. Grains (100% organic when we can get it, which is most of the time) are offered, free choice, that is free of by-products, antibiotics or hormones. Chickens eggs are $4.25/doz. Duck eggs available seasonally $10/dozen.
