The Swansea Independent Baseball League is an organized youth baseball program for boys and girls of ages 4 through 12 years. The league is based at the Nike Site Playing Complex located on Nike Site Road (off Sharps Lot Road) in East Swansea, which includes 5 playing fields -- including 2 with lights -- and several auxiliary facilities. The SIBL's playing structure is designed in two-year age increments, permitting players to gradually increase their skills and advance to higher levels of competition. Its Bronco Divisions for 9- to 12-year-old players operates according to Major League Baseball rules, with runners permitted to take leads off bases and to attempt steals of bases whenver action is alive, and pitchers frequently required to work from the stretch position. The SIBL is an affiliate of PONY Baseball and AAU Baseball, and has qualified teams to compete in World Series competitions in 8 different years. Player registration is open to both Swansea and non-Swansea residents.
