Symposium Talent Contest is the leading organization of dance talent contests in the Midwestern United States. We offer the following categories of competition: Classical Tap, Contemporary Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Song and Dance, Musical Show, Novelty/Character, Clog, Acrobatic and Hip Hop. We offer reasonable entry fees, quality judging and a fun, positive atmosphere for all contestants.Symposium Talent Contest was founded in 1981 by a group of people in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area. Linda Joseph, who eventually became its sole owner, headed this group. Ms. Joseph passed away during 1992 and her mother, Delores, operated the business until the fall of 1994. The business was then sold to the current owners, Rusty and Cindy Rogerson of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. The Rogerson’s have spent the past years learning, improving and making Symposium a recognized name in the Midwest. They work hard at making Symposium something that the original owners would be proud of. The have instituted a special award to honor Linda Joseph; it is called the SUPER TAP award. It is given at each show to the highest tap score of the day. Linda loved all forms of dance, but tap was her favorite.The Rogerson’s are both college graduates and have spent their lives helping other people. Their love of children and providing a positive atmosphere for them to perform their talents are evident at every show. The Rogersons are in attendance at every show and are available to personally answer any questions that you might have.
