Founded by Michael Hargis in 2008, TBD Fest began as a small, one-day celebration of Sacramento's creative community, called Launch.

Launch set out to introduce the audience to emerging local, regional and national talent though an avant-garde experience. By throwing a party that brought together an exciting group of musicians, artists, fashion designers, boutiques, architects and other creatives, the event became a catalyst for the creative community.

In 2012 and 2013, Launch grew into a large scale music festival with performances by Chromeo, Girl Talk, DJ Shadow, Future Islands, Blonde Redhead, The Joy Formidable, Group Love, Washed Out, St. Lucia and many more.
